🛸 Daily joke

Why did the alien scout refuse to visit the human library? He heard they had too many 'non-fiction' sections and he only does sci-fi.

📜 Daily poem

Prism of the Deep Sky

A million needles of frozen light, Piercing the carbon-heavy night. Each beam splits into a rainbow flare, As liquid diamonds dance through the air. A shimmering, crushing, brilliant glow, In the heavy currents far below.

🔭 Scientist spotlight

Mary Anning 1799–1847 · Paleontology

Mary Anning was an English fossil hunter whose discoveries in the cliffs of Lyme Regis revolutionized the field of geology. She identified much of the first evidence for the existence of extinct species, including ichthyosaurs and plesiosaurs. Despite the scientific community's tendency to overlook her contributions due to her gender and social class, her specimens became foundational to the study of prehistoric life.

🔢 Number theory fact

The Magic of 6174

Kaprekar's Routine is a fascinating process where you arrange the digits of any four-digit number to create the largest and smallest possible values, then subtract them. If you repeat this process with the result, you will eventually reach the 'constant' 6174, where the routine begins to loop indefinitely.
